INTERIOR SCONCES
1. Standard finish on sconces is “old tin”, a Deep Landing Workshop concocted recipe to emulate that “left in the barn too long” feel.
2. Mirrored sconces come with silvered hand made glass mirrors. They have a great look.
3. When considering our sconces, measure the electrical box where you intend to place them. Many of our sconces were
designed when the standard electrical box for sconces was 4” x 2 1/2” mounted vertically. Life is not so simple anymore,
and if the sconce doesn’t cover the electrical box, we can supply you with a thin metal cover plate that can be painted
to match the wall.

CHANDELIER BASICS
Prices include
1. 24” of hook for wooden chandeliers
2. 36” of rod for metal chandeliers OR 24” of solid brass chain
3. 24” of tin chain for cone chandeliers
4. ceiling canopy and mounting hardware and bulbs
ARM SPREAD, when given, is for the arm spread shown in a particular photo. Arm spread is a highly variable feature on our chandeliers and can be changed, up to 36”, at no additional charge.
WOODEN CHANDELIER BASICS
1. Our solid body chandeliers have wooden center spindles. The height column gives the height of the wooden spindle not including the ring and hook
2. Poplar wood painted to your specifications is standard
3. W/C means that the price given is for a walnut or cherry spindle. We carry solid cherry and walnut in sizes up to 5” in diameter.
METAL CHANDELIER BASICS
1. Standard finish is our “wrought-iron”. See Finishes for a description.
2. The patented hook and ring does not always come standard with these chandeliers, but is available at additional cost.
3. A halogen down light is available for many of these chandeliers.
FINISHES -WOODEN CHANDELIERS
1. Painted poplar spindle to your specification
2. “Wrought-iron” is standard on metal parts.
3. Old pewter, the same material as “wrought-iron” but looks exactly like antique pewter, can be specified for metal parts at no additional charge.
4. Walnut or cherry spindles are available for smaller wood turned chandeliers.
5. Faux Finishes - Old iron, faux bronze, faux verdigris, faux rust are the most common . Variations and permutations are infinite
6. Gilding, 23k gold leaf, priced accordingly
7. Decorative carving priced accordingly
8. Decorative painting, priced accordingly
FINISHES - METAL CHANDELIERS
1. Standard finish is “wrought-iron”, an oxidized lead tin alloy, antiqued to duplicate the look of old wrought-iron. No rust, no fuss, and no flat black.
2. Old pewter, same material as “wrought-iron” but looks exactly like antique pewter. Can be specified at no additional charge.

FINISH DESCRIPTIONS
WROUGHT IRON FINISH
This is used primarily for interior fixtures. In reality this is a tin/lead alloy on copper or brass. We do the plating in house. Most round or square stock, such as chandelier arms and suspension rods are done this way. The L-100 series lanterns are also done this way, because we wanted to create a heavier wrought look, rather than the sheet iron or tin look. We use lead coat copper for the sheet iron look in exterior applications. We use a plated steel for our old tin interior applications.
The tin/lead alloy is oxidized and waxed to give the wrought iron look. And it won’t rust.
Where structural strength is required, such as heavy iron mounting brackets for wall lanterns, steel is used, and finished using our faux iron. This is a textured oil paint finish. It is hand applied and built up. It stands up very well, even in a harsh exterior environment.
OLD TIN
For interior fixtures only. We use a plated steel that is aged (oxidized).OLD PEWTER
For interior fixtures only. It loses its luster in exterior applications. We start with the same tin/alloy on copper or brass as the wrought iron, but finish it differently. Some of our interior sconces can be given an old pewter finish using lead coat copper. This is a darker gray due to the 100% lead content.
LEAD COAT COPPER
This is copper that has been hot dipped in molten lead. We buy this product in sheets, and use it to make our exterior fixtures, and some interior sconces. It has a more mottled appearance than the wrought iron finish. It can be finished as dark brown/black or light, with a grayer tone.
FAUX IRON and other paint based textured finishes
This is a finish that we use as standard on our steel exterior mounting brackets. It requires a 25% upcharge when used on the
lanterns themselves, because the heavy texturing has to be applied carefully to keep it from interfering with the door or glass
channels.
OPTIONAL FINISHES
Copper Verdigris - add 10%
Dark Copper Verdigris (also called Dark Antique Copper) - add 5%
Antique Brass (also called Old Brass) - add 15%
Polished Antique Brass - add 25%
Not recommended for exterior fixtures. In interior environments it will develop a golden tone over a period of 1-2 years.

painted to match your swatch - add 15%
Walnut or cherry for wood chandelier spindles (some size restrictions) - add 30%
Graining or marbling for wood chandelier spindles - add 20%

In the Washington DC area, including Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, we are represented by the Rist Showroom (202-646-1540) in the Washington Design Center, 300 D St SW, Washington, DC.
1. SCONCES - When considering our interior sconces, measure the electrical box where you intend to place them. Many of our sconces were designed when the standard electrical box for sconces was 4” x 2 1/2” mounted vertically. Life is not so simple anymore, and if the sconce doesn’t cover the electrical box, we can supply you with a thin metal cover plate that can be painted to match the wall.
2. HANGING FIXTURES – See below.
HANGING CHANDELIERS AND LANTERNS
O.A.H. means over all height, which is the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the fixture.
As most of our fixtures hang from fixed stems, O.A.H. needs to be provided before delivery.
For fixed stem hung fixtures we also need to know if there is a cathedral ceiling, and if so the approximate slope of the ceiling.
Chandeliers over a table should be 30” to 34” above the table top. This can be moved up when hanging from very high ceilings.
Hanging fixtures requiring head room should be no lower than 6’ 6” above the floor. Note: if there are oversized doors that might swing into the fixture.
Deep Landing Workshop supplies the hardware, including canopy and crossbar, required to mount to a standard electrical box.
Our “wireless” hook requires a rigid suspension rod. If it’s exposed to wind, there will be work hardening and ultimately it will fail.
GLASS
STANDARD GLASS
We use restoration glass as standard. It is hand made. Sometimes it will be a European import and sometimes it is made in West Virginia by Blenko.
Being hand made, its characteristics will vary, from subtle imperfections to a more pronounced waviness. There are some bubbles, but not nearly as many as in a manufactured seedy glass.
SHIPPING
ALL SHIPPING IS FOB CHESTERTOWN MARYLAND
PACKING CHARGE
There is a 2% of list price packing charge for shipments via UPS or Fed Ex. We will reduce this at our discretion for large orders of the same fixture.
UPS OR FED EX GROUND
If a chandelier’s arm spread is less than 30”, with a few exceptions, it will ship UPS. Otherwise it must go freight. Shipping charges vary and will be quoted with an order confirmation.
FREIGHT SHIPMENTS
There will be a 6% of list price packaging charge to box a fixture on a pallet. Crating charges for overseas shipments are 10% of list. We ship freight prepaid and invoice the charges.
SHIPPING GLASS FIXTURES
Due to the shippers propensity for breaking our hand made glass, we are shipping the glass for our larger lanterns uninstalled in the lanterns.
BLANKET DELIVERY
We will deliver within 300 miles. Prices will vary depending on the size of the fixture(s).
